Oklahoma Permit Practice Test

A free Oklahoma permit practice test: 10 questions written from the Oklahoma Driver Manual, each with the right answer and the reason. The real test has 20 questions and you need 15 right to pass.

10 questions. Pick an answer to see if you are right.

  1. 1. When you drive on an Oklahoma Class D learner permit, who must be sitting beside you?

    Show the answer

Answer: B. A licensed driver who is at least 21

A learner permit only works while a licensed driver age 21 or older is in the seat next to you. Never drive on a permit alone or with a younger driver.

  2. 2. In Oklahoma, a teen who is taking or has passed an approved driver education course can get a Class D learner permit at what age?

    Show the answer

    Answer: D. 15

With approved driver education (including parent-taught), the permit is open at 15. Without driver education, you must wait until 16.

  3. 3. How long must a teen hold a learner permit before qualifying for an Oklahoma intermediate license?

    Show the answer

Answer: A. At least 180 days

Teens need to keep the permit for at least 180 days (about six months) before moving up to the intermediate license.

  4. 4. Unless an exception applies (such as driving to work, school or church, or having a licensed driver 21 or older beside you), an intermediate license holder may drive only during which hours?

    Show the answer

    Answer: C. 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The graduated license limits teen driving to 5 a.m. through 10 p.m. Outside those hours you need one of the listed exceptions.

  5. 5. How many passengers may an Oklahoma teen with an intermediate ("T" restricted) license carry?

    Show the answer

Answer: C. One, unless they all live in your household or a licensed adult 21+ is up front

The rule is one passenger. More are allowed only if they all live in the driver's home or a licensed driver 21 or older rides in the front passenger seat.

  6. 6. An Oklahoma teen in the graduated license program is convicted of a moving violation. How long do they stay at their current level (learner or intermediate)?

    Show the answer

Answer: A. Until 6 months after the conviction date

A moving violation freezes your GDL level. You cannot move up until 6 months have passed since the conviction.

  7. 7. What is the minimum distance the Oklahoma manual says you should signal before you turn, slow down or stop?

    Show the answer

    Answer: D. 100 feet, or one-third of a block

Turning without a signal is illegal. Turn on your signal at least 100 feet (about a third of a block) ahead so others can react.

  8. 8. After you move to a new address, how soon must you tell Service Oklahoma?

    Show the answer

    Answer: B. Within 10 days

The law gives you 10 days to report a new address. Legal notices go to the address on file, so an old address can cost you your license without you knowing.

  9. 9. Under Oklahoma's point system, what is the lowest point total within 5 years that leads to a license suspension?

    Show the answer

    Answer: C. 10 or more

Each pointable conviction adds points to your record. Reaching 10 or more points within 5 years means your license will be suspended.

  10. 10. What can happen to an Oklahoma learner permit or intermediate license holder who uses a hand-held electronic device while driving, when it is not a life-threatening emergency?

    Show the answer

Answer: A. The permit or license can be suspended or canceled

New drivers can lose their permit or license for using a hand-held device while driving. Put the phone away unless it is a true emergency.
